On March 16, the grand opening ceremony of the Investment Promotion Center for Yuhu Cold Chain’s Tianjin project was successfully held under the theme "Forging a Cold Chain Hub in Tianjin, Charting a New Chapter of Growth". Wang Jun, Vice President of Yuhu Cold Chain and Chairman of Yuhu Cold Chain Tianjin, attended the event and delivered a speech. Together with special guest Deng Qingchuan, Deputy Party Secretary and Labor Union Chairman of the Yuhu Cold Chain (Tianjin) Trading Center Project at China Construction First Bureau (Group) Fifth Construction Co., Ltd., as well as the management team of Yuhu Cold Chain Tianjin, he officiated the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the center. The event marked the full launch of investment promotion for the Yuhu Cold Chain (Tianjin) Trading Center, a critical milestone in Yuhu Cold Chain’s strategic layout in northern China, and the official start of a new journey for cold chain industry development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

Targeting a Strategic Hub: Government-Enterprise Collaboration to Build a Northern Cold Chain Nexus

In his speech, Wang Jun noted that as a key node city on the northbound corridor of the Belt and Road Initiative, a core hub for the Coordinated Development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, and home to Tianjin Port – the northern gateway for cold chain imports – Tianjin boasts a high concentration of commercial, logistics, capital and information flows, making it a strategic foothold for Yuhu Cold Chain to deepen its presence in the northern China market.

The opening of the investment promotion center is not only a key move for Yuhu Cold Chain to expand its footprint in the northern cold chain market, but also a concrete action for the company to fulfill its social responsibilities and support regional industrial upgrading. Going forward, the project will leverage its international high-standard smart cold chain trading centre and online-offline integrated trading model to integrate high-quality global food ingredient resources and leading domestic channel resources. It will build a full-chain cold chain service system integrating trading and exhibition, cold chain warehousing, processing and distribution, supply chain finance, and brand incubation, attracting upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain to cluster and develop. The project will support Tianjin in building itself into the core hub of the northern cold chain food supply chain, and drive quality improvement, efficiency gains and iterative upgrading of the regional cold chain industry. With this goal in mind, the project will accelerate the construction of its core areas, strive to deliver social and economic benefits at an early date, and inject new impetus into regional industrial development.

This strategic layout of Yuhu Cold Chain is highly aligned with Tianjin’s development plan. At the Third Session of the 18th Tianjin Municipal People's Congress held on January 14, 2025, Zhang Gong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee and Mayor of Tianjin Municipality, stated in the 2025 Report on the Work of the Government that the Yuhu Cold Chain (Tianjin) Trading Center project is regarded as one of the key implemented projects for Tianjin to continuously deepen and expand reform and opening up, and vigorously advance port-industry-city integrated development.

The CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee, Tianjin Municipal People's Government, as well as the CPC Dongli District Committee and Dongli District People's Government have long attached great importance to the construction of the Yuhu Cold Chain (Tianjin) Trading Center project, listing it as a key municipal project and a landmark industrial project in Tianjin. Since the signing and implementation of the project, the municipal and district governments have taken proactive actions and provided targeted services, offering full support in planning approval, factor guarantee, and business environment optimization. These efforts have underpinned the rapid progress and high-quality construction of the project, and will help Yuhu Cold Chain play a leading and exemplary role in the overall coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region and the construction of the northern cold chain hub.

Integrating into Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Development: Delivering Accelerated Project Construction

As the first primary trading center launched by Yuhu Cold Chain in northern China, the Yuhu Cold Chain (Tianjin) Trading Center has been advanced at an efficient "Tianjin Speed" since its inception. It is planned to house an international high-standard intelligent cold storage complex with a capacity of 300,000 tons, and aims to build a primary cold chain food trading hub in northern China with six core functions: cold chain trading, warehousing and logistics, processing services, trade settlement, supply chain finance, and smart trading centre management.

As the core section of the project, the comprehensive fruit and vegetable trading zone on Plot 1 is under steady construction, with trial operation scheduled to commence by the end of 2026. This zone will focus on providing full-process services including distribution, trading and delivery for comprehensive fruit and vegetable categories, meeting customers' one-stop procurement needs. Upon full completion, the project will become a large-scale cold chain food distribution center and supply chain service center covering North China, Northeast China and Northwest China.

Through a digital, standardized and intensive operation model, the project will unlock new quality productive forces in the cold chain industry, facilitate the two-way channel for high-quality global food ingredients to "bring in" and characteristic agricultural products from Tianjin and northern China to "go global". It will support Tianjin in building itself into a northern international highland for cold chain logistics, and inject strong momentum into the high-quality development of the regional economy.
